Borrowing and credit

Borrowing costs money. The APR puts interest and fees together in one yearly percentage, so you can compare loans fairly.

3rd grade (secondary)Ages 16 to 18Draft: Not yet reviewed by an economics teacher.

Why

A web shop says: buy now, pay later, but €25 a month. How much do you really pay for that laptop?

Borrowing can make sense, for example for a car you need to drive to work. But borrowing is never free. Anyone who borrows pays interest and sometimes extra fees.

A small amount per month sounds easy. Only when you multiply it by the number of months do you see what the loan really costs.
