Paying: cash, card, app or transfer

You can pay in cash, with a bank card, a payment app or a bank transfer. Each time the money takes a different route, but it is always real money.

1st grade (secondary)Ages 12 to 14Draft: Not yet reviewed by an economics teacher.

Why

At the bakery you tap your bank card on the terminal and get your sandwich. How does your money actually get to the baker?

With cash you see the money go from hand to hand. With a card or a phone you see nothing move. Yet money goes from your account to the shop's account.

If you know which route the money takes, you keep better track of what is left in your account. And if you keep your PIN safe, you keep that money too.
